Cenelian

The term cenelian is for gay genderqueer people, like how "lesbian" is for gay women.

Someone who is cenelian is attracted to genderqueer people in a way that is same-gender and exclusive, although it is possible to use "cenelian" in an mspec way, like any gay term. An mspec cenelian is also called a "cygnian".

Cenelians can be attracted to genderqueer people of any variety. Someone who is cenelian may like all types of genderqueer person, only the same type as themself, or a few types. However, whatever their attraction specifically is, cenelians are genderqueer, experience this attraction as gay, and experience it as exclusive.

Some cenelians also identify as terms like "lesbian" or even "straight" in addition to "cenelian".

If someone is a "cenelian lesbian" (or veldian), that may mean they are a genderqueer woman (or man) attracted only to genderqueer people. They may also be a genderqueer woman (or man) who is attracted to genderqueer people with a preference for the same gender alignment(s) as themself.

"Cenelian" is unusual among gay terms, because while it specifies exclusive attraction to one gender alignment, it is a gender alignment that can include many, many more things than most gay terms' referants do. That is, "genderqueer" is a much broader spectrum of identities than "man". As a result, someone who is a cenelian has an identity in which it is assumed by default that they can be attracted to multiple genders (as long as they are not strictly binary ones) while still being gay.

Someone who identifies as mspec cenelian, then, will probably be someone who is either also attracted to binary people, and/or who wishes to emphasize that they are attracted to genderqueer people of different alignments.

In our system, people are both genderqueer and gay by default. This means that, technically speaking, most gay relationships in Local Void are also cenelian relationships.

Not too many headmates go out of their way to identify as "cenelian", however, as many of them have more connection to established queer terms like lesbian or veldian (the latter of which has an established meaning even if not the term itself).

However, there are some exceptions, and "cenelian" is still a useful term to have to describe a certain type of gay experience.

Some torenamoric people in the system use that term in addition to (mspec) veldian and cenelian. This emphasizes that they consider their attraction to men and genderqueer people to both equally be gay.
