"Concubus" is the "neutral" equivalent of a word like "incubus" or "succubus". In other words, a demon that feeds off of adult activities.

The etymology of this word is that "concu" means "alongside", whereas "incu" means "above" and "succu" means "below".

The etymology of the words "succubus" and "incubus" imply that they refer to sexual positions rather than to genders (as is how people usually think of these words). The view of Local Void is that the difference between an incubus and a succubus can be whatever you want it to be, but we prefer to make that distinction based on subbing and Domming rather than on gender.

In our system, concubi do not have to feed off of actual sex. Many of them are much more inclined towards non-sexual kink, and many of them also find that engaging with sex by means like masturbation or looking at explicit materials (as opposed to actually involving an external party) are just as good as having sex.

A concubus is almost always a kink alter of some kind, but they might also be someone who experienced sexual or kink related trauma and were affected by it but do not really actively like or hold kinks.

Notably, our system has a lot of headmates who identify as succubi but also men. Some of them are actively femme or even transfem. However, some of them are merely referring to preferring submissive roles in kink and do not present femininely. However, the word "succubus" is not gendered to them as female due to its etymology.
